Rule Types
Using Subscription Products in Rule Triggers
Updated 4 days ago
EG supports using products with Shopify's Selling Plans (Shopify’s term for subscription plans) in both the rule's trigger and action. This guide focuses on setting up triggers. For help with actions, please refer to this document.
Trigger Scenarios
Except for cart-value triggers, you can set product, product-tag and collection triggers to activate based on the following scenarios:
Addition of subscription products only
Addition of one-time products only
Addition of both subscription and one-time products
Configuring Triggers with Subscription Granularity
Product-Based Triggers
Set up the product rule as usual.
Select the products that should trigger the rule.
After selecting, from the list of products click on "Select Selling Plans" for the products you want their subscription plans (Shopify’s Selling Plans) to trigger the rule.

Choose which selling plans should trigger the rule.

Click "Select" and complete the rest of the rule settings.
Product-Tag Based Triggers
Set up the product tag trigger as usual.
Enter the product tags that should trigger the rule.
By default, the rule works for both subscription and one-time versions of tagged products.
To change this, enable the setting "Only work when a tagged product is added to cart with or without a selling plan" and choose the specific type you want to target.

Complete the rest of the rule settings.
Collection-Based Triggers
Set up the collection trigger as usual.
Choose the collections that should trigger the rule.
By default, the rule works for both subscription and one-time versions of products in the selected collections.
To change this, enable the setting "Only work when a collection item is added to the cart with or without a selling plan" and choose the specific type you want to target.

Complete the rest of the rule settings.
Summary
By carefully configuring triggers with these options, you can precisely control how your rules respond to Shopify's Selling Plans and one-time product scenarios.
