How to Target EG Rules Towards New Customers
Updated 6 days ago
Why is targeting new customers important?
Targeting promotions to new customers is crucial for encouraging them to place their first order. A well-crafted offer can entice them to try your service, and a positive first experience can lead to long-term loyalty. By delivering value early, you increase the chances of turning new customers into repeat buyers.
How to make EG rules target new customers.
To ensure that EG rules apply only to new customers (those who haven't placed any orders yet), follow these steps:
Ensure the Customer is Logged In:
For the system to determine whether a customer has placed an order before, the customer must be logged in. If they aren't logged in, their order history can't be checked. This means you need to persuade the customer to sign up or log in to be able to trigger a deal. This can be achieved with banners on your site.Create an EG Rule for New Customers:
Go to the Edit Rule page.
Navigate to the section labelled Apply this rule to.
Choose Existing customers who are logged in.
In the Existing Customer Targeting Options section, select Order Count.
Check the box labelled Add a maximum order count limit.
Enter 0 in the text box provided.

Finish configuring the rest of the rule as needed and save your changes.
